Chef Gordon Ramsey on HealthyLife.Net

FRIDAY, AUGUST 6 AT 7am & 7pm PT & ARCHIVED TUNE IN TO HEALTHYLIFE.NET News@7
http://www.healthylife.net/HRNnews7.html

You can count on Gayl Murphy to give you the headsup on what's happening with who in the Entertainment industry this week! Tune in to the A&E segment on HRN News@7 and you'll also hear an interview with Chef Gordon Ramsay - the Award winning British chef, restaurant owner and focus of the reality television show, "Hell's Kitchen"!

ABOUT GORDON RAMSAY
Gordon Ramsay has been awarded a total of 12 Michelin Stars and, in 2001, became one of only three chefs in the United Kingdom to hold three Michelin stars at one time. Ramsay was born in Johnstone, Scotland and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, England from the age of 5. Ramsay has described his early life as "hopelessly itinerant", as his family moved constantly due to the aspirations and failures of his father. In 1976, they finally settled in Stratford-upon-Avon where he grew up in the Bishopton area of town.

Ramsay played football and was first chosen to play under-14 football at age 12. He was chosen to play for Warwickshire. His football career was marked by a number of injuries, causing him to remark later in life, "Perhaps I was doomed when it came to football". In mid-1984, Ramsay had a trial with Rangers, the club he supported as a boy. He seriously injured his knee, smashing the cartilage during training. Ramsay continued to train and play on the injured knee, tearing a cruciate ligament during a squash game. He never fully recovered from the double injury.

By this time, Ramsay's interest in cooking had already begun, and rather than be known as "the football player with the gammy knee" at age 19, Ramsay paid more serious attention to his culinary education. In the late 1980s, he worked as a commis chef at the Wroxton House Hotel, then ran the kitchen and 60-seat dining room at the Wickham Arms. Ramsay then moved to London, where he worked in a series of restaurants until being inspired to work for the temperamental Marco Pierre White at Harveys.

After working at 'Harveys' Ramsay, tired of "the rages and the bullying and violence", decided that the way to further advance his career was to study French cuisine. In 2007, Ramsay opened his first Irish restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at Powerscourt, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Powerscourt, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.

In May 2008 Ramsay opened his first U.S. west coast restaurant, in Los Angeles, California. Situated in the former Bel-Age hotel on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, the hotel has been renovated and re-named The London West Hollywood. The restaurant is called Boxwood. Many episodes of Ramsay's U.S. series Hell's Kitchen are recorded in Southern California.

Orthorexia nervosa? Healthy Eating Disorder? Poppycock!

There’s a new eating disorder that was recently reported in London’s Guardian newspaper and originally came from a Colorado Doctor Steven Bratman, MD who coined the phrase...It’s called the "Healthy Eating Disorder" otherwise known as orthorexia nervosa.

The symptoms of this new, and in my opinion “fabricated”, mental disease as the article states is that, "Fixation with healthy eating can be a sign of a serious psychological disorder. Orthorexics commonly have rigid rules around eating. Refusing to touch sugar, salt, caffeine, alcohol, wheat, gluten, yeast, soy, corn and dairy foods is just the start of their diet restrictions. Any foods that have come into contact with pesticides, herbicides or contain artificial additives are also out…” The newspaper further reports that, "The obsession about which foods are "good" and which are "bad" means orthorexics can end up malnourished."

So now according to ”the experts” wanting organic food instead of GMO and junk food means your crazy, there’s something wrong with you and you will get malnutrition. Poppycock! Okay, I get if you carry anything too far and don't use common sense that you could get sick but it sure makes ME wonder about what “behind the scenes” role of the pharmaceutical companies and the traditional medical communities might have had in making up this new disease or maybe the "good" doctor was looking for publicity. Could they all be scrambling to get profit dollars by trying to convince people that good food is dangerous and that GMO food and drugs are the safer alternative? After they diagnose you with orthorexia nervosa is the cure force feeding you drugs and junk food?

I mean really does this Healthy Eating Disorder make sense to you? It doesn’t to me...so put me down for that mental disorder...Yup I’m crazy!

However, it is interesting how most of the doctors I had 18 years ago, who were around my age at the time...are dead...and me, who by my eating habits-(NO wheat, dairy, refined sugar, preservatives, artificial colorings, GMO foods, fermentation, alcohol, only certain meats, fish, fruits and vegetables)...is apparently classified as orthorexic! Well...I haven’t been ill in over 18 years, nor needed a traditional doctor, nor have taken any prescription drugs in all that time. In fact I'm in top physical health.

So Poppycock to your story Guardian newspaper and to you too Steven Bratman, MD!

Internet Radio Listeners, Alexa and Web Site Stats

Internet Radio Listeners are quantified and compiled by the streaming server which is completely seperate from actual website statistics. The internet radio audience is said to be about 70-72 million per week.

Alexa does provides website statistics. However, the website stats are accumulated only from their community of sites who participate by installing and using their toolbar. According to Alexa, Alexa could not exist without the participation of the Alexa Toolbar community. Each member of the community who uses the toolbar contributes to the information about the web to the Alexa site, but the information gathered about any website is limited to what is gathered from their million or so tool bar users. This is the information used to provide a website's traffic rankings and related links on their site.

So although the Alexa website gives you a helpful snapshot of a website's statistics per Alexa's user community it does not and cannot count web radio listeners and is not a complete picture of a website's real traffic or positioning in the total web world.

I think Alexa is fun and I have been going their periodically for years. It does give me a snapshot of their user community and to us here at HealthyLife.net. everyone is important. But when looking at our statistics, our links and our actual demographics gleaned directly from our Clubhouse Alexa's information about the healthylife.net website is somewhat inaccurate for the real big picture of a website's positioning, website traffic and links.
