Internet Radio for Media Buyers and Advertisers

In this economy you are being asked to do more with less, so don’t let your clients miss out on one of the fastest growing markets in the media industry – Independent Internet radio. Here are a few reasons why Internet Radio is a great choice:

Missed Market of Engaged Listeners
According to the U.S. Census Bureau and Small Business Administration there are 21 million plus non-employer based businesses in the U.S. of which 52% are home based businesses. In comparison there are only 5milllion plus employer based U.S. businesses. More people are working on computers at home and will listen to internet radio in the background rather than be distracted watching TV or a video. Working alone, the innate need for social contact is met with an internet radio talk show. Listeners tend to feel they are not alone and have a chance to interact via telephone, text, email or social networks during live programs.

Higher Ad Receptivity
Studies have shown that people are hit with 3,000 -5,000 ads per day. This is usually too many for people to process so they tune most of them out – either physically, like a DVR, or mentally. However radio spot ads are less obtrusive because 1) they are expected. The host actually announces they are going to commercial break; 2) radio spots are sound bites, not visuals, which are less distracting; 3) radio is an emotional buy. It leaves the ‘pictures’ up to the mind of the listener who actually matches their ‘pictures’ directly to their needs. This does have more impact - think of the effect of the murder scene in ‘Psycho’ as compared to ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ where people get numb to the violence. 4) radio ads also have a better ‘top of mind’ recall experience; and 5) studies have shown that people will spend more time listening to radio ads, so they are more likely to remember and respond to them.

A Viable Growing Market
Internet Radio continues to expand in growth unlike terrestrial radio which entered the internet market too late. Internet radio stations and networks can be, and many are, syndicated and simulcast on many distribution channels, creating a wider network appeal that reaches the listener wherever they are and whatever device they are using to listen. HealthyLife.net is available on internet, in-cars, smartphones, smartTVs, smartwatches, tablets, WiFi, private radio networks and more. Plus there may be  added ad shelf life, like HealthyLife.net has with on-demand archives, podcast downloads, and RSS feeds. In addition - Internet Radio’s Drive Time is longer from 8am – 5pm. What is really great is that usually all this ‘reach’ is included free with your initial buy, making your ROI more economically effective.

A Full Digital Presence
Internet Radio can provide more than just radio spots for your clients. Banners, coupons, email blasts, social media mentions are just some of the added possibilities that come included with Internet Talk Radio ad campaigns giving your client a maximum digital presence exposure.

A Niche Market Demographic
Internet radio listeners do tend to have higher, more disposable income levels. Dependent upon the Internet Talk Station’s niche market, demographic information like age groups, gender, marital status and other data will vary but can give you a more specific choice for your client’s product or service – which leads to a better ROI. For example where most traditional radio gets a young or male oriented demographic, HealthyLife.net reaches the higher purchasing power demographic of 80% women and the growing popular only natural health market.

Targeted Ad Placement
Imagine reaching local, national or global listeners all in one place. Internet Talk Radio allows media buyers to do this. Plus Internet Talk Radio Stations can target specific local, national and global audiences. Terrestrial radio has a small footprint with almost no local programming.

Better ‘Straight From the Source’ Tracking
Internet Radio has more real stats available to them than terrestrial radio which use 3rd party extrapolated guesstimated numbers. Remember services like Google Analytics track website hits only but listener statistics can only come from the station's audio/video streaming server. The streaming server is independent of a website server and does NOT use website statistics.

There are no studies comparing terrestrial digital radio and independent internet radio. However to give you an example, when HealthyLife.Net Radio compared ‘apples to apples’ from the latest Triton Digital Media Study, HealthyLife.Net had 1700% more live session listeners than the top terrestrial digital radio stations using the exact same criteria. So don’t discount Independent Internet Radio stations – they are viable players in the media marketplace.

With Independent Internet Radio there is also a way to justify actual real numbers and ROI with minimal effort on your part.  Your clients can actually set up a specific telephone number for ordering and for a banner link, set up a web landing page, with an unpublished link which can be placed on the radio site so clients can track their own statistics – which takes you out of the numbers game all together!

Independent Internet Talk Radio is not a replacement to traditional media but IS a viable addition. It’s a new marketplace that can produce for you now and is destined to only increase in the years to come.

HealthyLife.Net Radio Network is a 14-year young Internet Radio Network reaching over 1 million monthly listeners in 130 countries through its 62+ syndicated/simulcast distribution channels and, in case you haven't guessed, we do provide economical full digital presence ad campaigns for media buyers.

Google Analytics DOES NOT Track Radio Listeners

Google Analytics does a great job at analyzing data for website stats. However Google Analytics tracks only their own Google search engine results which does not include Bing, Yahoo, Alexa or other search engine data statistics. They also do not, and most times, cannot track a streaming media listening audience.

Here's why...Listener numbers come from an audio streaming server. This audio server is not a webpage on a website but actually a separate data stream, usually housed on a separate server from the radio stations website server.  It is linked ON a website page but as in the case of HealthyLife.net Radio the radio button link is on almost every page of our 60+ page website and not on just on one Landing page.

Google Analytics CAN track how many people come to a website page that contains a link to the audio stream but unfortunately that is not always the actual listener data. Actual listener data can only come from the audio server stream data.

HealthyLife.net also has 62+ syndicators/simulcast distribution channels that pick up our LIVE audio stream and rebroadcast it out to their many listeners - but to our audio search engine each one looks like just one listener. In reality these 62 distribution channels could be accessing 100s, 1,000s or 1,000,000 more listeners a day per channel.  Think the numbers are high? Here's an example - Microsoft's Radio Tuner, which HealthyLife.net is 1 of 68 talk radio stations is available to 1 billion worldwide internet devices a day. 1% of listenership would provide HealthyLife.net with 1 million more listeners a day but again to our streaming server they look like only 1 listener.

Podcast and on-demand listening all have different criteria that is tracked differently in an audio streaming server.  Again website hit analysis is not the same  as tracking websites so unfortunately using Google Analytics to rate Listener Audience size is not a valid measurement.

State of the Media: How America Listens to Radio

Radio, one of the 1st in original mass media, continues to play a big part in the lives of Americans everywhere-with 245 million Americans listening weekly of which194 million tune in through digital internet radio. That means more than 91% of Americans (age 12 or older) tune in each week.

In today's rapidly evolving world of consumer choice and technological advancement, audio becomes an even more integral part of our lives. Internet Radio is a trusted companion all throughout the day and not just in 'drive time' like traditional radio. Although traditional radio has taken away local radio in the U.S., internet radio networks like HealthyLife.net have integrated local based radio into their program schedules. This gives their local community a voice and a specified audience.

For advertisers, radio delivers a mass audience in real-time across markets large and  small that is highly qualified;  HealthyLife.net Radio also delivers the advertisers message after real-time delivery with on demand listening and podcast downloads. The vast majority of radio listeners are in the workforce and with Internet Radio they listen at work. More than three quarters of the national adult audience works full or part time during the week.

How Big Is Radio's Reach?

It's no secret, radio's reach is unprecedented. According to the recent All Access Q2 2015 Audio Today Report 245 million Americans aged 12 years old and older tuned to radio during an average week. However, while the bigger markets often grab the headlines, small and medium markets are still viable because you can reach them all at the same time on Internet Radio which goes beyond the traditional radio 50 -500 watt footprint to cover local, national and the world.

The report also noted that the majority of consumers in these markets are connecting to the radio and spending a lot of time listening as well. More than 86% of consumers tune in during the week and spend more than 15 hours of their media time with radio.

However, here's a tip... remember in advertising it is not how many people you reach, it's how many times you reach the same person - and with HealthyLife.net's 14 year loyal and growing audience, as a HealthyLife.net advertiser, you are always maximizing your reach. A Positive Talk Radio Review: HealthyLife.net Radio Network

by James Bean

In a crazy, stressed out over-caffeinated world of broadcasting where all-too-often creativity is stifled and actually sometimes even punished, there is a unique radio network called HealthyLife.Net with impressive demographics, generating web-traffic, streaming audio and much enthusiasm these days, featuring programming with a positive Vision for the world --- the way radio should be and can be.

Launched September 1st, 2002, HealthyLife.net  --- The Positive Radio Network, was founded by Linda Mackenzie. HealthyLife.net is a 24 hour a day holistic network based in Manhattan Beach, California featuring all-positive and healthy talk shows by a variety of hosts including: Guy Finley, Dr. Bernie Siegel, Jonathan Goldman, and programs on: holistic health, wellness, sports, fitness, diet, peace, the environment, spirituality (including 'Spiritual Awakening Radio'),  self-empowerment, inspiration, motivation, relationships, family/children's/women and men 's issues, psychology, new thought, awareness, meditation, news, music and numerous call-in shows featuring well-known guests and authors.

The advent of HealthyLife.net in a very real sense represents a turning-point in broadcasting, and you could say, the "legalization", so to speak in our media-culture, of spirituality as a subject worthy of coverage and discussion on the airwaves in a serious sort of way. For many, HealthyLife.net is the fulfillment of a Vision for a more meaningful, constructive right-use of broadcasting, a yearning by many for a very long time, filling a real void in our media wasteland ........ that missing holistic channel we've been searching for. We have scores of other kinds of radio and media --- why not a channel for spirituality and well-being!!?

From the Mission Statement of HealthyLife.Net

"To utilize radio to encourage a positive world community towards positive thought and action, elimination of fear and the concept that we are all one here for the greater good of all.

"WHO & WHY WE ARE:  HealthyLife.net  --- The Positive Radio Network is dedicated to enhancing Positive Health & Spirit! Everyone can use a little more positive energy in their lives and we believe POSITIVE programming helps point the way to a healthier, happier life and a better planet. All positive emotion and positive action comes from positive thought. Positive thought is the most powerful tool we have to create the reality that we want. Most media outlets provide fear-based, sensationalized programs that constantly assault us (consciously and subconsciously) with negativity..... To our best ability we promise .... ALL POSITIVE PROGRAMMING that can help your life, make you feel good and encourages our world to be a more positive place.

Radio Guest Tips

by Debbi Dachinger

Here are a few bits of info to understand before you are interviewed on radio which
will prove to be invaluable during and after the interview:

 - When calling about establishing your first interview - remember to be pleasantly persistent. If you do not receive a call-back after the 2nd call, send a book cover postcard, give them time to receive it and then try calling again.

 - Create great relationships with everyone involved in the radio show and station. On one occasion I was having trouble getting to the producer. After several lovely conversations with the scheduler, I sent her a signed copy of my book and hinted at passing it by the producer. The day after she received it the producer called and booked me as a guest.

- If you cannot get a positive response after the 3rd email, give it up, shout, "Next!" and email someone else. Try telephoning or snail mail that is getting a better response these days.

 - Producer's name. The producer usually books the show, however you should try to talk to the host if at all possible to get a feel for how the interview will go.

- When you get a hold of the producer or have booked the show here are some things to ask about or keep in mind...
            1) Where can people listen to the radio show?
            2) Will they call you or will you be calling them? What phone number? Do they have an emergency number? Be sure the producer has your direct phone number and be sure you know exactly when they will be calling you or if you will be calling them.
3 )What is their complete address, office phone number
            4) What is the Show name and the Host name. Verify spelling and pronunciation. It is also a good idea to have this in front of you during the interview so you can refer to the show and to the host(s) by name. Ask them if there will there be more than one host or guest on at the same time.

Kristin Fontana: I Dare You To Live a Positive Life

by Debbi Dachinger, Dare To Dream Radio Host, Wed. 11am PT www.healthylife.net

I recently interviewed Kristin Fontana from the Guiding Stars radio show on HealthyLife.net. We had a brilliant conversation - see how this influences you. I dare you to take Kristin's dare!

Debbi: What is the greatest lesson you've learned?

Kristin: TOTAL freedom awaits if you have the courage to be who you are!

Debbi: What is something you are deeply grateful for?

Kristin: Deeply Grateful - apart from my precious family.....I am eternally grateful to the universe for bringing me together with my greatest life teacher for from that moment on, I connected to my life's work as an Evolutionary Astrologer which has helped me help others in a profoundly meaningful way but it has also always served to shine a light on the path back to my root nature, ultimately finding my way back home to myself, and through extension, God.

Debbi: What's the most important thing you do to keep your life positive?

Kristin:  To keep life positive - Honestly, I was just born that way, due to being a Sagittarius sun, I tend to always spring from an optimistic place. I realized very early on about the law of energy. What you put out comes back. I listen to music of various kinds to support this space and I meditate...

Debbi: If you could DARE the listeners to do anything that will create positive change for them, what would you dare them to do today?

Kristin: I would DARE listeners to try and experience life outside their comfort zone every once in a while. Whatever that may be. Trying a new restaurant/dish. Buying a new piece of furniture or piece of art. Watching a movie in a genre they are not used to watching. Everyone falls into routine - but to be aware of it and make sure we don't get too "stuck"  is important. Allow yourself to LIVE, LEARN and TRY!

Tune in to Kristin Fontana's Guiding Stars  which airs Wednesdays at 10am PT on www.healthylife.net.

Risa Feldman: I Dare You To Live a Positive Life

by Debbi Dachinger, Dare To Dream Radio Host, Wed. 11am PT www.healthylife.net

I recently interviewed Risa Feldman from the Risa's RoundTable show on HealthyLife.net. We had a brilliant conversation - see how this influences you. I dare you to take Risa's dare!

Debbi: What is the greatest lesson you've learned?

Risa: The greatest lesson I have learned in my life is to not fight what the universe has in store as hokey as it may sound.  There are times when you need to rise to the occasion and go above and beyond efforts to make things happen.  However, if at every turn you seem to keep hitting walls - I
have learned to stop and pivot.  Maybe there is a better way of looking at the situation, or of attaining what you seek. Or maybe it's not meant to happen.  The term just "Go with the Flow"  I try and follow as much as I can.

Debbi: What is something you are deeply grateful for?

Risa: I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I have had in my life. Whether the opportunities were ones offered to me, or ones that I sought out on my own, they all have come with valued experiences that have molded me into the person I am.

Debbi: What's the most important thing you do to keep your life positive?

Risa:  The most important thing I do to keep my life positive is spending time in nature. Whether a walk on the beach, a hike in the mountains, watching a sunset or walking my dog down a tree lined street - I always breathe deeper and slower when I am in a setting that brings tranquility and beauty.

Debbi: If you could DARE the listeners to do anything that will create positive change for them, what would you dare them to do today?

Risa: I would DARE listeners to try and experience life outside their comfort zone every once in a while.

Tune in to Risa's RoundTable Show which airs the 4th Wednesday each month at 9am PT on www.healthylife.net.

Maureen St Germain: I Dare You To Live a Positive Life

by Debbi Dachinger, Dare To Dream Radio Host, Wed. 11am PT www.healthylife.net

I recently interviewed Maureen St. Germain from The Practical Mystic Radio show onHealthyLife.net. We had a brilliant conversation - see how this influences you. I dare you to take Maureen's dare!

Debbi: What is the greatest lesson you've learned?

Maureen:    I'm still learning! Right now, I think the greatest lesson I've learned so far is that everything is a choice! No one makes us do anything. It's the spin we put on things that makes it good or bad to us. So that means we get to choose, happy or sad, mad or joyful. My second greatest lesson is - if it's about money - you can always make more money, and let it go!

Debbi: What is something you are deeply grateful for?

Maureen:    I'm deeply grateful for the Higher Self Connection that I've figured out - and have taught my students. It is the single most powerful thing a person can do - to know what they need to know before they need to know it. I'm deeply grateful that so many students have learned this method
and have incorporated it into their daily life. I'm deeply grateful so many people contact me with their great stories of how their higher self is their resource in fun and frustrating times! I'm deeply grateful for life itself and the beauty I find in every day. I really get off on Sunrises and Sunsets. It's one of the things that doesn't depend on anyone to make happen - you just show up! How cool is that?

Debbi: What's the most important thing you do to keep your life positive?

Maureen:    The most important thing I do to keep my life positive is to see the opportunity in everything that comes my way. What can I possibly learn from adversity? What can I learn from loss? Usually that means to go back to Life is beautiful.

Debbi: If you could DARE the listeners to do anything that will create positive change for them, what would you dare them to do today?

Maureen:  If I could DARE listeners to do something that could create a positive change for them, well, what I'm about to suggest changes everything to a very high vibration. I'm going to invite them to join me in asking for a day of heaven on earth - each and every day, for themselves and everyone
they come in contact with.

Tune in to Maureen St. Germain's Practical Mystic show which airs  the 2nd Monday of the month at 2pm PT on www.healthylife.net or visit her on-demand archive page http://www.healthylife.net/RadioShow/archiveMS.htm

Dr Mark Pitstick: I Dare You To Live a Positive Life

by Debbi Dachinger, Dare To Dream Radio Host, Wed. 11am PT www.healthylife.net

I recently interviewed Dr. Mark Pitstick, from The Soul Doctor HealthyLife.net Radio Show. We had a brilliant conversation - see how this influences you. I dare you to take Dr. Mark's dare!

Debbi: What is the greatest lesson you've learned?

Dr Mark: That as a vast amount of clinical, scientific, religious and empirical evidence clearly shows-we each are part of Source Energy/God/Life Itself right now and forever.

Debbi: What is something you are deeply grateful for?

Dr Mark: Enjoying the peace, clarity and joy that accompanies awakening to who I am, why I'm here, and Who walks beside/within me-especially when handling life's difficult changes and challenges.

Debbi: What's the most important thing you do to keep your life positive?

Dr Mark: Optimally care for my body/mind so my essence/Light can shine through in every aspect of my life.  Keys for me include a whole food diet, meditation, exercise, time in nature, loving relationships, the arts, and serving others while fulfilling my highest callings.

Debbi: If you could DARE the listeners to do anything that will create positive change for them, what would you dare them to do today?

Dr Mark: Educate yourself about the evidence mentioned in #1. (My website www.soulproof.com provides FREE articles, past radio shows, special reports, and newsletters to help you learn this evidence.  My book and movie "Soul Proof" also share this collective evidence.)  Then-once you really know you are a wise, infinite, special and powerful being of energy/ consciousness/spirit-live accordingly.

Tune in to Dr. Mark Pitstick's Ask the Soul Doctor which airs  the 1st Monday of the month at 2pm PT on www.healthylife.net

Internet Radio for Media Buyers

Internet Radio for Media Buyers
In this economy you are being asked to do more with less, so don’t let your clients miss out on one of the fastest growing markets in the media industry – Independent Internet radio. Here are a few reasons why Independent Internet Radio is a great choice:

They are still struggling with the Internet and technology while trying to maintain their old paradigm which doesn’t work with today’s audience and technology. Internet radio stations can be, and many are, syndicated and simulcast on many distribution channels, creating a wider network appeal that reaches the listener wherever they are – internet, in-cars, smartphones, WiFi, Ipads, private radio networks, and more. Plus there is added ad shelf life with archives, downloads, podcasts and RSS feeds. In addition - Internet Radio’s Drive Time is longer from 8am – 5pm. Plus what is really great is that usually all this ‘reach’ is included free with your initial buy, making your ROI more economically effective.

No more extrapolated number from 3rd parties. Internet Radio has more real stats available to them than terrestrial radio. There are no studies comparing terrestrial digital radio and independent internet radio. However to give you an example, when HealthyLife.Net Radio compared ‘apples to apples’ from the latest Triton Digital Media Study, HealthyLife.Net had 1200% more live session listeners than the top terrestrial digital radio stations using the exact same criteria.

HealthyLife.Net Radio – Back In Time Capsule - 2003

HealthyLife.Net Radio Network 2002-2012
10 years of Positive Talk

Back into the Time Capsule: 2003

With 3 months of Network Beta testing completed, in January 2003 we started other radio hosts with eclectic topics not found on traditional radio stations. Some of our new hosts included Raw Food Maven Elysa Markowitz, noted Naturopathic Doctor Dr. Gloria Gilbere and Golden Globe Winner, Academy Award nominee Sally Kirkland – who are all still with us today.

Our many guests were great too. We had Jean Houston’s dog sing opera on air to Stephanie Miller’s comic antics gracing our air waves.

In its infancy stage our show topics included natural health, business, spirituality and the paranormal. Even though internet radio was still new and most people didn’t even know what it was we managed to glean 589,787 listeners for the year.

We added a chat room and live call-ins to our shows and by the end of the year we had to move our studio to a larger location. We added more equipment, more hosts wanted to come on air and we were getting more listeners. It was time to take the next step…

HealthyLife.Net – Back In Time Capsule 2002

HealthyLife.Net Radio Network 2002-2012
10 years of Positive Talk

Back into the Time Capsule: 2002

In September 2002, after planning and with equipment bought, Linda Mackenzie Founder of HealthyLife.net Radio, went out to find a streaming provider. After looking high and low a fellow broadcaster asked if she knew about Earthchannel. She called Earthchannel and it just so happened that Cliff Johnson wasn’t just a random start-up broadcaster in this fairly new world of internet radio. Oh no! He was one of the original designers of streaming servers and had been involved in streaming service and technology from the beginning. After explaining the remaining little known pieces to the puzzle about Internet broadcasting, Linda in awe at his knowledge remembers asking Cliff jokingly, “Did God send you?” He promptly answered, “You bet He did!”

Linda decided that EarthChannel was her streaming provider of choice – and she has never been disappointed with service, price and availability. Cliff still proves to be a dear friend, the voice of reason and one of the most knowledgeable broadcast providers on the planet.

So on October 2, 2002, Linda began beta-testing the network. Not wanting to waste anyone’s time until everything was perfect her radio show was the only show on the network broadcasting 5 days a week. By the second week of broadcasting Linda was out looking at golf putter at a sports store. This incredible voice came out of nowhere and said, “Can I help you?” After a couple of minutes of conversation Linda asked, “Have you ever been in radio?” The guy was a little shocked and said, “Yes. In major markets in San Francisco for 15 years, until I got laid off.” Linda responded by saying, “Would you like to be in radio again?” After explaining what she was doing in Internet radio he decided he was interested. And that was what started a 10 year fruitful and beneficial business relationship with Dennis Glines, now the Program Director on the network.

During December Linda was still not satisfied with the sound quality of the station. So after several attempts with many computer people who didn’t know sound and many music people who didn’t know computers she put an ad in Craigslist. Sean Fodor came into the studio and Linda, who was frustrated by this time, turned on KABC from the radio and said to Sean “This is what I want to sound like.” He cocked his ear at the sound for a moment, said a simple “Okay.” Then made 2 or 3 adjustments on the sound equipment, which took about 2 minutes, and the sound was perfect.

With the streaming perfect, the sound perfect, the production engineering taken care of and Linda’s show getting call-in audience response, Linda started marketing to get other radio hosts onto the network. Not just taking anyone the criteria that a radio host had to have to be on the network was previous TV, radio, or national lecturer experience with an audience following. With the lay offs in terrestrial radio occurring, and still occurring to this day several hosts jumped on board …until…

HealthyLife.Net Radio - Back In the Time Capsule

HealthyLife.Net Radio Network (2002-2012)

Celebrating 10 years of Positive Talk

Back into the Time Capsule: 2001

In September 2001, realizing that local radio stations and quality non-sensationalistic information was becoming practically nonexistent, Linda Mackenzie, an 18 year former data com engineer and 8 year terrestrial radio host, started looking for a solution. Her own all positive radio show was getting record listeners since first day of inception. She was getting 36-42 calls from listeners in the 40 minutes she opened the show up to callers.

Although she had tried for years to get her show syndicated and did with Wisdom Radio and PAX radio, major terrestrial radio stations did want to touch a positive show. They seemed to thrive on controversy and sensationalistic content designed to shock people.

So she planned for a year to see if it was feasible to start her own network – one with all positive talk that helped to eliminate fear instead of manifesting it. The internet was in its infancy and streaming media was not really main stream. In fact, few people knew of it.

She wanted to follow the template of terrestrial radio and so with her data com background and previous radio experience she went out to find the best software, equipment, streaming media, encoders, and all the myriad technical pieces and parts that make a radio station. She then found out about FCC and copyright rules; audio processing; personnel responsibilities and requirements and everything that made a terrestrial station work.

Realizing that that not ‘just talking on air doth a radio host make’ she understood that talented, seasoned radio hosts were needed to cull the listeners and keep them engaged. So she had to make a plan that included getting great talent, as well as, the listeners.

And she researched and planned and planned and planned…until…

Being the Change Through Social Media and Internet Radio

by James Bean

People using sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Care2, and countless other social networking venues of the web are roughly divided into two categories:"whisperers", and "broadcasters".

Whisperers basically just want to be left alone. They have a small circle of close friends they desire to keep in touch with, and that's it. They aren't necessarily out to add hundreds of Internet "friends" from far away exotic lands such as Outer Mongolia and Tuva.

Social networking broadcasters however, have much in common with those inhabiting the world of internet radio. They are seeking good ratings, a growing audience tuning in, more subscribers, an expanding coverage map, more downloads, hits and page views. They have messages to communicate. Adding new friends from Mongolia or Madagascar is perfectly acceptable! They might seek to "be the change", perhaps are involved with a cause they passionately wish to promote across the globe. Mahatma Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

Though amplified by electronic equipment including the hubs of the worldwide web these days, the concept of creating networks of communication, new ideas, education, and social reformation, is at least as ancient as Mongolian Yurts, Tuvan Throat Singing, Babylonian Ziggurats, the Pyramids of Giza and those of Central America. A couple of decades before the Internet revolution, the late Robert Muller (1923-2010), Former Assistant Secretary General to the United Nations, and Laureate of the UNESCO Prize 1989 for Peace Education, wrote the following visionary poem about the power of networking.

‘Decide to Network. Use every letter you write, Every conversation you have,
Every meeting you attend, To express your fundamental beliefs and dreams.
Affirm to others the vision of the world you want. Network through thought. Network through action. Network through love. Network through the spirit.
You are the center of a network. You are the center of the world. You are a free, immensely powerful source of life and goodness. Affirm it. Spread it. Radiate it. Think day and night about it. And you will see a miracle happen: the Greatness of your own life, In a world of big powers, media, and monopolies, But of six billion individuals Networking is the new freedom, the new democracy, A new form of happiness.’

I continue to be inspired every time I read those words. Muller was also Chancellor Emeritus of the University for Peace (UPEACE or UPAZ) based in Ciudad Colon, Costa Rica, which, once-upon-a-time, was the home of Radio For Peace International, a community radio station broadcasting to the Americas and the world via shortwave radio.

It was great to be able to share my program, Spiritual Awakening, via RFPI for most of the years the station was on the air. Someone told me that Robert Muller tuned in one day and actually heard me read from a booklet called Ambassadors For Peace, featuring a dialogue about world peace between Robert Muller and Sant Darshan Singh, presenting some very positive visions of a Golden Age. Now as I broadcast Spiritual Awakening on HealthyLife.net Radio Network who knows who I am reaching within the millions of people who tune in monthly, sharing my messages.

In conclusion, we not only transmit messages to the world via radio, Twitter, Facebook updates or Blogging but on a subtle level, even our very thoughts are like radio waves escaping into the ethers, and those thoughts have a effect as well.

As Spiritual Master Shivbrat Lal puts it:“The human body is a kin to a radio broadcasting station. It transmits into the ethers subtle and mental waves of what the mind thinks. Mental thought-forces and spiritual currents go out in the atmosphere according to the disposition of one's mental and spiritual make up. The human body system is also a radio receiver.” And from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "A man is what he thinks all day long."

It’s Amazing to realize that the totality of that thought-life during this earth-walk adds up to become our legacy here. Not only akashic records, magnetic tape, or a digital format, indeed, all our thoughts, words, and deeds become a factor, a part of the grand equation of the collective thoughts, words and deeds of the earth, slightly moving humanity in one direction or another, here in what Guru Nanak called "Dharm Khand", (The Realm of Action, Karma, Dharma: Moral or Ethical Activities).

In Decide to Be a Global Citizen, By Robert Muller he says, “A good inhabitant of planet Earth. A member of the great human family. Pray, think, act, feel and love globally, And you will aggrandize yourself to the outer limits of being. Know this planet. Love this planet. Care for this planet. For you come from Mother Earth And you will return to Mother Earth. You are made of her elements. You are the Earth, become conscious of herself. You are her eyes, her ears, her voice, her mind and her heart. Save your Mother Earth from her matricidal children who destroy her, who divide her, who spike her with nuclear arms, who hold their territories to be greater than the globe and their groups, greater than humanity. Unite, global citizens, to save and heal planet Earth and to make our Mother bloom again as the most beautiful planet in the universe.”
