Radio Guest Jitters?

by Linda Mackenzie

Are you nervous when you thinking about being interviewed on the radio? Well that is just normal. Even the top radio professionals in the industry may get some nervous jitters before being interviewed or going on air.  Most radio stations want sensationalism or controversy and may even set you up negatively to entice their audience, even if they don't believe what they are saying to you. So the only way to really prepare for an interview is to know your topic inside out, be honest, truthful and be prepared for the unexpected.

Most radio hosts are very busy, so when you approach them to get on air you may want to include 8 questions or 'Talking Points' about your topic. In most cases the  radio hosts will use some, or all of them, which puts you ahead in the interview game. However, NEVER read your answers on air. Listeners know when you are reading. A really good radio host will actually hit you with an off the wall question to force you back into conversation mode if they suspect you are reading.

It may help to rehearse these 'Talking Points' once or twice with a friend or family member before actually going on air. You can also have your friend or family member make up their own questions that you don’t know in advance about your area of expertise. The trick is to NOT to rehearse too much because you will sound like a canned response and people will lose interest, including a really good radio host. A good host will have you off the air in record time if your interview sounds canned.

Don't be afraid to make a mistake, listeners usually find this endearing instead of horrifying, because it makes you human. You can either quickly ignore and pass over the mistake, admit the mistake or make a joke about the mistake. To err is human and everyone makes mistakes - just try not to make mistakes about the integrity of the information you are presenting.

Remember a radio interview is just a conversation between two people, which happens to be going out to many. Focus on the conversation and just go with the flow. Remember the only way to really prepare for an interview is to know your topic inside out, be honest, truthful and be prepared for the unexpected.

Linda Mackenzie: I Dare You To Live a Positive Life!

by Debbi Dachinger, Dare To Dream Radio Host, Wed. 11am PT www.healthylife.net

I recently interviewed Linda Mackenzie Founder and GM of HealthLife.net Radio Network and host of tthe Linda Mackenzie Show. We had a brilliant conversation. I dare you to accept Linda's dare!

Debbi:  What is the greatest lesson you've learned?

Linda:  The only thing you can rely on in life is change and change is constant. Change is also cyclical and is a spiral in motion. So use change to learn and grow. If you use change wisely you can actually advance rapidly on your spiritual growth path. Plus in the  downtime of change if you actually learn the total lesson, you will never have to go through that same lesson ever again. How cool is that...and the more spiritual growth lessons you learn the longer you stay up in the flourishing up time of change. So remember all change is good...no matter what.

Debbi: What is something you are deeply grateful for?

Linda: I am grateful for my six (or more?) senses and how I can use them all, energetically, to give and receive love, to and from all things. LOVE! For that is really the only thing we take with us when we pass over. It's our real bank account - the love we give and the love we receive.

Debbi: What's the most important thing you do to keep your life positive?

Linda: I give back to others. Especially through the HealthyLife.net Radio Network. Knowing that we are helping someone to get or stay positive almost every minute of every day means that we are doing our part to keep generating that Universal Positive Energy that is helping the greater good of all. Now what's more positive than that!

Debbi:  If you could DARE the listeners to do anything that will create positive change for them, what will you dare them to do today?

Linda: Forgive yourself and others. Each morning wake up and say I forgive all those who have hurt me and I forgive myself for any wrongs I have done. Of course you DO have to try hard not to repeat the same mistakes but if you forgive yourself and others each morning - you will have a fresh new canvas for that day to create a beautiful new picture of your life.

Listen to the LINDA MACKENZIE SHOW! on www.healthylife.net every Tuesday, 8am PT and do call in with YOUR questions during the show between 8:30- 9am PT at 800-555-5453.

HealthyLife.Net – Back In Time Capsule 2002

HealthyLife.Net Radio Network 2002-2012
10 years of Positive Talk

Back into the Time Capsule: 2002

In September 2002, after planning and with equipment bought, Linda Mackenzie Founder of HealthyLife.net Radio, went out to find a streaming provider. After looking high and low a fellow broadcaster asked if she knew about Earthchannel. She called Earthchannel and it just so happened that Cliff Johnson wasn’t just a random start-up broadcaster in this fairly new world of internet radio. Oh no! He was one of the original designers of streaming servers and had been involved in streaming service and technology from the beginning. After explaining the remaining little known pieces to the puzzle about Internet broadcasting, Linda in awe at his knowledge remembers asking Cliff jokingly, “Did God send you?” He promptly answered, “You bet He did!”

Linda decided that EarthChannel was her streaming provider of choice – and she has never been disappointed with service, price and availability. Cliff still proves to be a dear friend, the voice of reason and one of the most knowledgeable broadcast providers on the planet.

So on October 2, 2002, Linda began beta-testing the network. Not wanting to waste anyone’s time until everything was perfect her radio show was the only show on the network broadcasting 5 days a week. By the second week of broadcasting Linda was out looking at golf putter at a sports store. This incredible voice came out of nowhere and said, “Can I help you?” After a couple of minutes of conversation Linda asked, “Have you ever been in radio?” The guy was a little shocked and said, “Yes. In major markets in San Francisco for 15 years, until I got laid off.” Linda responded by saying, “Would you like to be in radio again?” After explaining what she was doing in Internet radio he decided he was interested. And that was what started a 10 year fruitful and beneficial business relationship with Dennis Glines, now the Program Director on the network.

During December Linda was still not satisfied with the sound quality of the station. So after several attempts with many computer people who didn’t know sound and many music people who didn’t know computers she put an ad in Craigslist. Sean Fodor came into the studio and Linda, who was frustrated by this time, turned on KABC from the radio and said to Sean “This is what I want to sound like.” He cocked his ear at the sound for a moment, said a simple “Okay.” Then made 2 or 3 adjustments on the sound equipment, which took about 2 minutes, and the sound was perfect.

With the streaming perfect, the sound perfect, the production engineering taken care of and Linda’s show getting call-in audience response, Linda started marketing to get other radio hosts onto the network. Not just taking anyone the criteria that a radio host had to have to be on the network was previous TV, radio, or national lecturer experience with an audience following. With the lay offs in terrestrial radio occurring, and still occurring to this day several hosts jumped on board …until…

More next month when we go…Back into the Time Capsule: 2003

NOV 15th HealthyLife.Net Health News Super Segment

If you couldn't listen to last Tuesday's health super segment at 7am and 7pm PT (and all day on archives)here's some of what you missed...

A recent study investigated the relationship between vitamin D status and breast cancer. The study included 636 women who had been diagnosed with incident breast cancer and 1,272 matched controls. The results revealed a decreased risk of breast cancer with increased levels of vitamin D. Researchers also found a significant inverse relationship in women under 53 years of age. Premenopausal women with high serum vitamin D levels had a reduced risk of breast cancer, although not significantly. These findings suggest that high vitamin D levels reduce the risk of developing breast cancer especially in younger women, although further studies are necessary to confirm these results.

A study conducted at the University of California-Davis investigated whether the use of commercial vegetable juice was an effective way to increase daily intake of vegetables in adults. Consumption of vegetable juice helped the participants reach the recommended daily intake. The results also revealed that the subjects who were pre-hypertensive at the start of the study showed significant decreases in blood pressure over the course of the study. These findings suggest that drinking one to two cups of vegetable juice per day is an effective way to fill the daily vegetable dietary gap for healthy adults and it may also reduce blood pressure in pre-hypertensive adults.

Researchers decided to investigate the effectiveness of ginger as an additional antiemetic therapy in patients receiving chemotherapy. The scientists of this double-blind study randomly assigned patients with bone cancer to either ginger root powder capsules or placebo capsules. The study published in Pediatrics and Cancer found that ginger root powder was effective in reducing severity of nausea and vomiting in patients receiving chemotherapy.

A study published in the the British Journal of Dermatology has found that lycopene may help prevent UltraViolet Ray skin damage by consumption of lycopene-rich tomatoes.

Parents and caregivers can take steps to reduce the risks of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) during the colder months, when infants are at higher risk. These include avoiding overheating an infant during nap or sleep time; placing the infant on his or her back to sleep; placing infants to sleep on a firm, safety approved mattress; keeping toys, blankets, and other loose objects out of the crib, and never smoking around an infant. In cold weather, parents and caregivers often place extra blankets or clothes on infants, to keep them warm. But over bundling may cause infants to overheat, increasing their risk for SIDS.

Natural Tips for Breast Cancer

by Linda Mackenzie, C.H.T., Ph.D (c)

Breast Cancer is not automatically a death sentence. In fact, the statistical model initially used to predict cancer death rates was found to be incorrect. So, in fact, there are many more cancer survivors than are reported in "the statistics".

The breast contains lymphatic vessels, milk ducts, lobes and fatty tissue. The breast is mainly a round mass of glandular tissue with fifteen to twenty lobes. Each lobe has a duct that leads to an opening in the nipple. The framework of the breast is composed of connective tissue with a ligament layer beneath the breast, which provides firmness.

Most breast lumps are cysts and fibroid masses that are not cancerous. Cancerous tumors and lumps never go away. They are firm and usually pain-free, and can appear in any part of the breast. A biopsy may be needed to determine if a lump is cancerous. Some of the symptoms of breast cancer are: thickening of the breast; lumps; and redness, soreness, or itchiness of the nipple. There are several kinds of breast cancer. They are categorized by the site where the cancer cells originated and the area of the breast in which they are located. These are:
-Paget's disease of the nipple
- Lobular carcinoma (breast lobe cancer)
- Intraductal carcinoma in situ (localized within the ducts)
- Infiltrating ductal carcinoma (invasive milk duct cancer)
- Inflammatory carcinoma (lymphatic/blood vessel cancer)
- Adenoid cystic carcinoma (uncommon)
- Malignant cytosarcoma phylliodes (uncommon)
- Medullary carcinoma (uncommon)
- Tubular carcinoma (uncommon)

Cancer is unrestrained cell growth. Heredity, estrogen and environmental factors seem to be the main cause of breast cancer. Heredity cancers usually develop before the age of fifty. Estrogen promotes cellular growth in the breast. Environmental factors such as pesticides, chemicals, radiation, and silicone implants have been linked to breast cancer. There is an increased risk of breast cancer among women who:
- are childless
- in menopause
- started menstruation before 9 years of age
- have had a child after 40 years of age
- consume large amounts of caffeine, alcohol and sugar
- have diabetes
- use oral contraceptives
- eat high-fat diets
- are obese, especially for women over 50 years of age
- use ERT (estrogen replacement therapy) after long term use of 10 years or more
- frequent exposure to medical x-rays

Breast cancer is most common in women over 40, especially postmenopausal women although you can get breast cancer at any age. Men also get breast cancer although it occurs less frequently.

TRADITIONAL MEDICINE
Traditional medical treatments for breast cancer include: surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, chemotherapy plus bone marrow treatment, hormone therapy, or a combination of these treatments.
Doctors once thought that extensive surgery could control the spread of Cancer, however they now believe that the cancer cells may break away from the primary tumor during surgery and spread through the bloodstream, even in the early stages of the disease. The use of drug treatment after surgery is used to kill these cells.
The key to any therapy is Research! Research! Research! Ask questions and get answers.

NATURAL TREATMENTS
Some of the natural health care treatments include:
- Antineoplaston therapy - Dr. Burzynski uses amino acid derivatives to inhibit the growth of cancer
- Biological and Pharmacologic therapy - use of non toxic medications, plant cell medications and human cell medications
- Shark Cartilage therapy - blocks the creation of new blood vessels which are required for cancer to grow and thus starves the tumor
- Herbal Remedies
- Immune System Treatments/Immunologic Therapies - bolsters the immune system to combat & destroy cancer cells using a whole body program of detoxifying the body by diet, uncontaminated water and vitamins.
- Metabolic Therapy - uses detox, colon cleansing, anti-cancer diets based on whole foods plus vitamins, minerals and enzymes
- Nutritional Supplement Therapies
- Diet Therapies
- Detoxification Therapies
- Ozone and Oxygen Therapies
- Lifestyle Therapies
- Mind-Body Therapies - counseling, bio-feedback, hypnosis, visualization, imagery, yoga, massage therapy, meditation, relaxation techniques

FOODS & DIET
Avoid:
over the counter meat, poultry, & dairy products; fatty, charred or grilled foods; well-done meat, processed refined foods, junk food, animal and vegetable oils, saturated fats, white flour, sugar, salt, NO alcohol, NO caffeine, drugs, nicotine, saturated fats, artificial flavorings, colorings and preservatives.

In Trenches of Audience Metrics

As published in Talkers Magazine - June 2010

In Trenches of Audience Metrics
Internet radio lights a way for talk radio
By Linda Mackenzie

LOS ANGELES ––Numbers! Numbers! Numbers! Shrouded in mystery of sample sizes and extrapolated numbers has there ever been a real count of audience size? It’s the never ending bane of radio – even in my arena as General Manager of an Internet-only talk network.

The real internet radio pioneers started broadcasting in the late 1990s. As a former 18 year datacom engineer with an 8 year stint as a talk radio host I started my internet radio network in 2002. At that time the majority of people knew very little about internet radio, however today, according to the Bridge Ratings Feb 1, 2010 study, Internet radio’s audience size is about 60 million a week.

Being in radio you can imagine the effort it took in 2002 to get quality talk hosts and listeners, much less advertisers. By 2004 when I started streaming 24/7 our audience numbers grew. Numbers now became part of my equation to get advertisers who were weaned on audience metrics. Being that old datacom engineer I set out on my quest to find real numbers.

I can remember being at the RAIN internet radio meeting held at the NAB 2004 Convention. The web-based radio audience size at that time was about 40 million a month. After the Arbitron presentation, I raised my hand and asked them a couple of questions which were perplexing to me at the time. “How can Arbitron determine numbers using an infinitesimally small sample size in comparison to overall audience size, how could these numbers reflect the listening audience of my particular talk station and why did I need Arbitron when as an Internet-only station I have actual numbers?” At that point the moderator came up to the podium and said, “We’re going to take a short break.” My mouth was agape as they walked off the stage leaving my questions unanswered amidst a plethora of murmurings from the attending audience. The speaker from Arbitron, who was extremely nice, came over to talk to me during the break and ended up by asking me questions.

Unlike any other broadcast medium, internet radio can get actual audience counts today.

This data is available on streaming servers. A streaming server can get the actual listener’s IP address, how long they listened from the time they log on to the stream to the time they log off, and even the zip code. All that information can be captured into what is known as the streaming server log. Administrators can specify how much or how little information they wish to capture into the server’s log file. All the way down to every last event or transaction that occurs.

However, processing the log to glean the desired information is quite time consuming and therefore expensive.

In 2004 our numbers were smaller and I received reports from my streaming aggregator displaying all this data. We had a 50 State breakdown, what cities in those States by listener count and how long they were listening. At that time we went to 108 countries with 82% of our numbers coming from 1,240 cities in all 50 states. We also had a count of our on-demand archived shows which are real streaming server numbers based on the individual retrieval of the listeners IP address. We were getting 8,000to 10,000 listeners a month on our archive.

Today with so many listeners there is so much data in any given day that it is impossible to process it. It’s too time consuming to warrant the cost. So at this point in time, even though the data is there, no one processes it. But it’s just a matter of time before the solution on processing these individual transactions is found and then we will get real numbers.

This leads us to a bigger question, if real numbers were available would we really want them and would they be ‘true’ numbers?

Internet radio has the capacity to reach more listeners than any other method of single radio delivery.

My network is distributed (carried or rebroadcast) on over 50 channels of distribution including the internet, WiFi, smartphones, private radio networks, mobile, podcasts, in dashboard of the BMW Mini cars and we even are on an Iphone App for an alarm clock.

As to ‘true’ numbers, now here comes the rub. On the streaming server, each one of these 50 distribution channels appear as one individual IP address. The distribution channel picks up my stream, broadcasts it out 24/7 to their listeners, they get the audience metric - which I never see. Take the case of my network being 1 of 300 content providers on the Microsoft Windows Media Player Radio Tuner. That makes us available on every Windows Media Player in the world, but I don’t know how many people are listening. I would assume we are getting a lot since they haven’t thrown us off, but the bottom line is that it brings us back to extrapolated numbers, at least for distribution channels.

Now let’s throw into the muddy waters of radio measurement, the advertisers. The advertising agencies seem to want ‘Page Views’ as their preferred measurement of decision for placing their advertising dollars. Page views are the website statistics of how many people request the website, people who may or may not listen to the radio stream. Most advertisers are unaware that the actual numbers of listeners come from the streaming server.

However it is still my opinion that any Internet audience metric is infinitely more accurate and better, especially for talk radio, than a sampled base audience metric system that is geared towards music.

Internet radio websites provide the ability to get real listener demographics

In 2007 I realized that although I knew the listener count and could somewhat glean from our show topics my station’s approximate demographics I didn’t have a male/female composition split or any real measure of the age group breakouts. So I initiated the Listener Clubhouse. People sign up for the Clubhouse, answer a few demographic questions and I get a view of my actual demographics which I can apply to my overall listener numbers. Surveys and polls can also provide a method for audience demographic accumulation.

Talk radio hosts interaction with listeners is a real source of audience measurement.

When all is said and done the most important key to audience measurement are the talk show hosts themselves. As General Manager I know my hosts are the core to my whole operation whether this is reportable or not. Our hosts get the on-air phone calls, emails, mail, appearance requests and interaction with their unique listeners on the network’s radio stream and web site, the host’s website and both our network’s and their own social media sites. That’s a lot of potential for numbers. That’s a lot of feedback. The activity that we get and the phone calls, albeit the ones in the middle of the night, show me we are doing a good job at our first priority which is - the listener experience.

In these times where face-to-face and social interaction is being replaced by the computer, I believe the voice of talk radio is going to grow to fill that gap of this lost interaction. People need and relate to people – and that’s talk radio.
Automated music, which can be gotten in so many various forms on the internet other than radio, (and don’t get me started about .mp3 versions that are playing on air that cut off the bottom bass sound of a song) it is amazing to me how talk radio seems to be getting the short end of the stick when it comes to current measurement practices. Maybe it’s time to re-think the whole measurement company paradigm. The data is there we just have to find a way to process it.

Exactly 2 full months after implementation of the pioneering news broadcast, which helps make news more palatable for listeners, Linda Mackenzie, HRN NEWS@7 'architect', network President and GM, can hardly contain her enthusiasm for all of the benefits the ground-breaking news show has garnered for the Internet's original all-positive talk radio network. And in the wake of all this success, she applauds the giant, dinosaur-like broadcast entities such as NBC who have followed suit as evidenced by their adding positive news elements to their news broadcasts.

When asked about the wide-ranging rewards following the implementation of HRN NEWS@7, Linda states, "The visions I had for HRN NEWS@7 and the successes it would bring to HealthyLife.net are now realities. I'm receiving syndication requests from all kinds of stations and several new syndication deals will be in place within the next 30 - 60 days."

Advertising sales also increased dramatically for the network as a direct result of providing something completely different, vibrant and 100% satisfying including being totally in sync with HealthyLife.net's GIVE BACK Program which provides advertisers and selected charities with a win-win situation. In addition to their current popular programming and the sweeping draw of HRN NEWS@7, HealthyLife.net is also attracting a new cache of prestigious show hosts.

New premier shows on HealthyLife.net include THE ODE SHOW, hosted by Jurriaan Kamp, owner/editor of ODE Magazine, which delves into the world of intelligent optimists and how people can make a positive impact in the world. And High-gloss humor hits the HealthyLife.net line-up beginning March 15th at 11 a.m. PT with THIS IS LIFE, hosted by an uplifting trio of stage and TV personalities whose personal triumphs over daunting challenges provides a never-ending wealth of amazing stories, experiences and humor that will naturally motivate listeners to confront their own challenges and triumph! "America's First Hearing-Impaired Comedienne" Kathy Buckley, a five-time American Comedy Award Nominee takes the microphone along with Geri Jewell, well-known as the first hearing impaired actress afflicted with cerebral palsy to have a steady role on a prime time TV series (HBO's DEADWOOD, NBC's THE FACTS OF LIFE). And joining these amazing women is Tobias Forrest, a competitive athlete whose athletic career was cut short due to a diving accident, leaving him a quadriplegic. Tobias' fate didn't stop him; he changed the direction of his life to succeed as an actor (HBO's SIX FEET UNDER, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE on FOX), a lyricist, comedian, artist and writer.

The overwhelming demand to extend listening time for the broadcast was met by archiving the program. Listeners to all of HealthyLife.net's archived shows sky-rocketed, proving that in this over-stressed, multi-tasking world, the growing number of listeners are taking full advantage of the network's listen-on-demand opportunities.

Find Your Hidden Negativity Test

by Linda Mackenzie, C.H.T., Ph.D. (c)

Learning to identify your areas of hidden negativity can help you release the negativity and lead you to discover your path to a healthier, happier life filled with purpose. Where is your Hidden Negativity? Answer all the questions below with one answer of either NEVER or SOMETIMES or ALL THE TIME. Then look below for your Hidden Negativity Results profile. Hint: If you have trouble answering a question remember to take the first answer that comes into your mind.

Answer each question as either NEVER or SOMETIMES or ALL THE TIME:

1. I like things to stay the same. I don't like change.

2. If someone tries to do something I take over because I can do it better.

3. I have to think things through before I do them.

4. I have to have a reasonable reason to do something.

5. I use words like can't, won't, couldn't, wouldn't a lot.

6. I often think I can't do something and have negative thoughts.

13. I judge other people or situations to see if they fit my standards.

14. I only trust myself because I'm almost right all of the time.

15. I doubt people and don't believe what they say.

16. I don't fully trust myself or other people.

17. I want and expect things to happen exactly as I plan them.

18. If I don't fulfill my desires and get what I want I am not happy.

19. I place a high priority and lots of energy towards getting what I want.

20. When I make a plan, I follow each step exactly.

Never = You have conquered this negativity. GOOD JOB!
Sometimes = You are on your way to conquering this negativity but you have a little more work to do.
Always = You have to start acknowledging and eliminating this negativity to be more positive.

OVERCOMING BAD DREAMS & THOUGHTS

By Daena Smoller

At the end of the last dream I had before I woke up this morning, I was walking back to someplace I can't now identify but it held people waiting for me. I stopped at some kind of storefront along the way to purchase a large container of liquid, like a huge container of antifreeze. I picked up the container and handed it and my money over to the guy behind the counter. He took both, rang up the sale and handed the container back to me. However, when I arrived at my destination, I bent over to place the container on the floor and found that not only was there no cap, but there was nothing in the bottle. I turned around and started on my way back to the store to rectify the matter with the swindler. But I never made it; I woke up before I reached my destination.

So I woke up pretty miffed...unfinished business and all that. I chalked up the aggravating dream as just a reminder of how I feel about others with whom I've had similar dealings over the last couple years ... for real. Well, it was either for that reason or the generous amount of pretzels I consumed before I went to bed last night.

When I got to my office and downloaded my first batch of emails for the day, the following "Thought for the Day" came through from the local community mailing list:

"Life is way too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so Love the people who treat you right and forgive the ones who don't."

Of course, it's a very lovely sentiment and a good rule of thumb for emotional well being. I think however, that when the treatment by others vastly exceeds something that just isn't nice, one should do what one can to make things right (like taking legal action when necessary) and apply the good thought of the day to normal life.

But for so many, applying the good thought of the day doesn't last more than a moment or so because frankly, real life isn't always that easy-going. That's why there's a plethora of on-going positive self-improvement and enlightenment programming on HealthyLife.net. For example, there's Lynn Andrews' show, KINDRED SPIRITS, which airs the 4th Tuesday of every month, part of the network's Visionary Series.

During KINDRED SPIRITS, Lynn Andrews takes you along on the path of the heart and coaches you on how to balance your physical and spiritual worlds in order to discover and grasp the amazing possibilities that open up to you as you explore the vastness and positive aspects of a powerful life. Check out this fascinating biographical information about Lynn Andrews:

Lynn V. Andrews is an internationally acclaimed best-selling author who has written 18 books published in 12 languages, a series of powerful meditation cards and over 20 meditation and teaching tapes. Her work is beloved by millions who have read her books over the several decades. Considered a preeminent teacher in the field of personal development, Lynn Andrews is a 21st Century shaman whose words reflect her path - a path of heart. She teaches and shows people how to live a life that is truly balanced, with one foot in the physical and one in the spiritual.

Shamanic knowledge and practice is at the very heart of creation. Throughout time, shamans have practiced the art of choreographing energy in a nonlinear field. It is Lynn's intention that we understand how all that is sacred in life weaves together within our world. For fifteen years, women and men from all over the world have gathered with Lynn for her annual Joshua Tree four-day retreat. In 1994, and thus The Lynn Andrews Center for Sacred Arts and Training (Mystery School) was created.

The opportunities are there for you to take control and make your life better and HealthyLife.net has the lion's share of such opportunities, just waiting for you to get involved. Check out the HealthyLife.net website and browse the fascinating shows and show hosts and chances are, HealthyLife.net programming will instantly become a favorite of yours. And don't forget to kick off your day the right way with the revolutionary new NEWS @ 7, a brand new feature of HealthyLife.net that is revolutionizing the broadcast news industry.

And one last personal piece of advice...lay off the pretzels before bedtime!

Positive Airwaves - HealthyLife.Net News @ 7

Upon reflection, you’ll find it a strange journey filled with many twists and turns which leads you towards your life’s purpose to serve mankind and the planet, with the bonus of personal spiritual growth along the way. And so it was for me…

I have always been a pioneer exploring new frontiers, whether it was being the first women in datacom engineering in any airline in the world (1977-1992), owning one of the 1st used PC stores in America (1983-1985), being the 1st women Sales Manager for the largest international telecom company in the world (1992-1995), starting one of the 1st all positive radio programs (1996-Present) to being President of the 1st dietary supplement manufacturing company to supply mind-body solutions with specialty supplements and audiovisualization tapes (1999-2002).

Since I have been Psychic since I was eight years old, I knew that the supplement company was coming to an end and that I would be left in a precarious financial position. I still wanted to help the people and the planet so I prayed to God to give me an answer as to what I should do next. I was told that although I could help thousands of people alone, that I was but a pinpoint of light. God wanted me to create a Lighthouse and bring top people together so we could shine the Light out to millions of people. So in 2002, on a wing and a prayer, I started one of the 1st all positive web talk radio networks - HealthyLife.Net. We are now syndicated and simulcast 24/7 on over 26 distribution channels (including being 1 of 300 providers for Microsoft’s Windows Media player Radio Tuner) and have over 40 seasoned TV, film, radio and national lecturer radio hosts like Dr. Bernie Siegel, Lynn Andrews, and Jonathan Goldman – all helping to bring light and solutions to the planet. So far we’ve reached over 32 million listeners.

Although I didn’t realize it at the time, with each job, I had slowly and methodically developed all the skills I needed to run HealthyLife.Net successfully for the long term, including the management skills of planning, implementing, supervising, directing and controlling.

One of the tricks I learned to be successful in spirit, life and business is to keep your feet on the ground and your head in the clouds. It is not enough just to be in Spirit, I needed to know and use the every day skills in running a business. I learned that if my business was not making money then unfortunately I had a hobby and so I had to learn about money. Both business and money do not possess emotions or ego. Running a successful business required me not only to understand this, but to act without my emotions or ego being tied to the decisions I made in and for my business.

In addition, there were so many times in my life where I could have had fame and fortune if I would have chosen to compromise the Light and my values. I walked away from starring roles in top TV shows which wanted me to fake or sensationalize my psychic abilities and being offered unbelievable monetary deals in business with dubious undertones - all that would have resulted in much money, fame and stoking my ego, but these things were not in truth, nor for the greater good of all. In each case I stood strong and refused to compromise in what I knew was right in Spirit.

With each business venture, especially with HealthyLife.Net because it is so much of the Light, there were many negative forces and negative people that showed up along the way to try to stop me. Some even told me that I could never do what I wanted to do in the way I wanted to do it. When each negative force, person or problem reared their ugly head, I persevered and found a way to go in, under or around them. I never gave up, never resorted to retribution and stood steadfast in my dream. I believed in myself, in what I was doing and was willing to do the work no matter how tough it became to realize my dream.

Even when the largest terrestrial radio company tried to steal my hosts, and another played with the security of my computer systems to try and bring down our radio stream, or when the radio industry didn’t give Healthylife.Net recognition I continued to take the path of least resistance. One-by-one the problems were resolved: the hosts didn’t leave, we installed a better security system and we were finally recognized in the radio industry with an article in Inside Radio and with multiple mentions in Radio & Records.

Two things are important to keep a business successful for the long term. One is to always stay ahead of the game, so about one-third of my time is spent in research of the radio, web and technology industry. The other is to always be innovative and bring something new to the mix. Each year in business we have added something new for our listeners: an interactive cyberspace clubhouse, a listener newsletter, a blog and social media groups.

This year we are bringing the World’s 1st all positive radio News Program called News@7 that is aired weekdays at 7am and 7pm Pacific Time. Believe me this is like starting another radio network within a network. I had to gather seasoned newscasters and reporters from KNX1070, CBS, NBC and Sirius. To avert possible copyright issues on our world, national, money matters, business and sports news we hired news editorial analysts from major current TV news programs. For our Super Segments on Healthy Living, Health, Science & Technology, Environment and Arts & Entertainment we had to hire specialized reporters. On our opinion segment we had to line up celebrities, politicians and noted experts, as well as the man (or woman) in the street. However, the most important and challenging thing about our news program is how we take current news stories and find the positive slant without the fear, skewed political views or advertiser driven content. I’ve been working on this project for two years and now after planning, implementing, supervising, directing and controlling - it is happening.

I believe that people want and need this type of news to stay connected and get the truth straight up. This should decrease the negativity on the planet just by people tuning in and creating a domino effect of the positive news we relay. Will this make a ton of money for me? This is not my top priority. My top priority is helping the people and the planet. If I totally believe in this, take the action and use good business skills then God will provide everything I need. By giving up the outcome and expectations and not putting my focus on trying to “consciously create” but instead just totally feel, know and trust that this will happen - I know I will be provided for no matter what.

A BLUE MOON USHERS IN NEW YEAR, NEW DECADE AND BRAND NEW PROGRAMMING

By Daena Smoller

It’s the morning of New Years Eve and it just dawned on me (no pun intended), not only will a new year be ushered in within a matter of hours, but an entire new decade…and it all takes place under a Blue Moon.

Personally, I’m not sure what to think about a “blue moon” other than the fact that it’s the occurrence of a second full moon within the same month, but it does strike me as kind of cool that this somewhat rare event is happening on the eve of a new year, let alone an entire new decade. Astrologers may have a different take on it so for those of you interested in learning more about what’s going on in the sky and how it may affect you, you’ll definitely want to check out Kristin Fontana’s Astrology radio show on the all-positive talk network, HealthyLife.net.

In addition to all the fascinating positive programming you’ve come to depend upon at HealthyLife.net (the cornerstone of the network’s philosophy since its humble beginnings so many years ago) the network marches into the new decade shining a bright new light for millions of listeners worldwide as it unveils a revolutionary shift in news broadcasting. Beginning Monday, January 4, 2010, HealthyLife.net will be the home of NEWS @ 7, a regular weekday news series featuring mega talent as anchor / hosts (think of such trusted news personalities like Ron Kilgore and Stephanie Miller) and disseminating positive news without propaganda or fear-generating elements. In fact, NEWS @ 7 will be an exclusive source of positive news coverage of people and events that you won’t find anywhere else.

So today while you’re bidding adieu to 2009 and firming up your personal resolutions to drop some weight, quit smoking and clear the clutter from your homes, which of course are all admirable goals, make an additional resolution to do something that takes no effort yet will prove to be so special for your mind, body and spirit… make HealthyLife.net your 2010 daily choice of positive and upbeat programming including NEWS @ 7, and while you’re at it, spread that invitation to 7 other people and see how fast you reap the rewards*!

On behalf of everyone associated with HealthyLife.net, enjoy a most spectacular and positive New Year!

*Rewards vary depending on individual perspectives.

A Holiday Thought

By Daena Smoller

At the beginning of the holiday season, my very good friend Mike Mace (who just became an Associate Producer of the NEW ORLEANS OFFICIAL PARANORMAL GUIDE) sent me a holiday greeting unlike any others I'd received prior. As many of us are more reflective during this time of year and with a recent and foiled terrorist attack planned for the United States, I can't think of a better time to share this greeting with you:

We've all enjoyed redneck jokes for years but at this time of year, it's time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God. If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen or more rednecks to back me up!

So check out the following and see how much of a redneck you may be:

You might be a redneck if...it never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, "One nation under God"

You might be a redneck if...you've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places

You might be a redneck if...you still say "Christmas" instead of "Winter Festival"

You might be a redneck if...you bow your head when someone prays

You might be a redneck if...you stand and place your hand over your heart when you hear the National Anthem

You might be a redneck if...you treat our armed forces veterans with great respect and always have

You might be a redneck if...you've never burned an American flag nor intend to

You might be a redneck if...you know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening

You might be a redneck if...you respect your elders and raise your children to do the same

You might be a redneck if...you'd give your last dollar to a friend

CLEANING FOR A REASON AND MORE

By Daena Smoller

I just learned this bit of information and I'm so excited to pass it on to you!

There is an organization in the United States called Cleaning for a Reason, and can be found at http://www.cleaningforareason.org. Here's what it's for and how it works: Any woman who is currently undergoing chemotherapy can sign up at the website and have her doctor fax a note confirming her treatment. Cleaning for a Reason then contracts a participating maid service in the patient's zip code and arranges for house cleaning service one time per month for four months during the cancer treatment time frame...and it's absolutely FREE.

There are 547 partner cleaning services across the country that work with Cleaning for a Reason in an effort to help those women undergoing chemotherapy. Please be sure to pass this information along to any woman who may need this service. And while you do so, please bookmark the Breast Cancer Site at http://www.thebreastcancersite.com and your daily click helps provide early breast cancer detection to women in need.

I wish these services were around when my mom was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in the late 1970s. However, during her second bout with cancer, she discovered the work of Dr. Bernie Siegel and if I remember correctly, she had the opportunity to converse with him. She even headed up a cancer support group as an offshoot of Dr. Siegel's work because that's the kind of woman that she was; one that supported all kinds of people regardless of what she may have been dealing with herself.

My mom said wonderful things about Dr. Siegel, probably because of a shared philosophy which is to take control and responsibility for your own healing. If you haven't discovered Dr. Bernie Siegel, you can do so the first Tuesday of every month on HealthyLife.net. Dr. Bernie Siegel's show, MIND HEALTH MATTERS, is part of HealthyLife.net's Visionary Series. And of course, check the HealthyLife.net for options on how to listen to all of Dr. Siegel's archived shows.

And while on the subject of health, you may also want to check out Jonathan Goldman's show, THE HEALING SOUNDS SHOW, which airs the second Wednesday of the month, part of the HealthyLife.net's Harmony Series. Jonathan Goldman focuses on the healing power of sounds which can help your life on multiple levels.

And of course that brings me to my very good friend, Linda Mackenzie who hosts THE LINDA MACKENZIE SHOW (formerly known as Creative Health & Spirit). Her show is a trip and I know first hand because I filled in as a board operator during the first couple of years after the launch of HealthyLife.net. She has interesting guests and focuses on fabulous health and awareness information and even provides some free energy readings. Linda Mackenzie loves to take calls from her audience so be sure to call in...you'll have a great time!

And coming up on January 4th, it's the launch of NEWS @ 7, exclusively on HealthyLife.net. It's the positive news served straight with no fear factors, anchored by broadcasting veterans. NEWS @ 7 will revolutionize news...something that hasn't been accomplished in 50 years! So mark your calendars and get ready for "7" on HealthyLife.net!

In the meantime, have a HEALTHY HOLIDAY SEASON!

A Lesson in Geography and Football

By Daena Smoller

I was at a party this past Sunday to watch the football game; the New Orleans Saints vs the Washington Redskins. Now I have never been a football fan, ever, until this season. Since I'm currently hanging out in New Orleans and the city is going crazy over the Saints as they make it closer to the Super Bowl, it's hard not to get swept up in the Saints frenzy.

So before the game, there's the pre-game show (hey, it was new to me!). During this time, a female reporter (or is she a sportscaster?) was interviewing players. Following her interview, this guy sitting near me at the football party launched into a half-serious tirade about women being involved in sports broadcasting. Of course, he was completely against it and since he had caught my attention, he focused the remainder of his tirade to me.

Then he really blew me away when he asked me, "who are the Saints playing?" I immediately responded with "Redskins" then pulled the neck of my shirt out a bit, pretended to survey my own chest and continued with "gee, do you believe it was female that had to clue you in?"

But the guy continued with "oh, Redskins, D.C." and I responded, "no, there are no football teams in D.C. - it's Washington State!" He agreed.

After the Saints won in overtime making them 12 - 0, I called my dad. I ran down the list of events from the previous week that I wanted share and then told him about this guy at the football party who initially threw a chauvinistic tantrum and our exchange. Of course, I put more emphasis on what an idiot this guy was to think that Redskins were from D.C. My dad started laughing...really, really hard. And when he could finally catch his breath, my dad, the physicist with a genius I.Q. kindly clued me in to the fact that the Redskins were indeed, a Washington D.C. team. So without missing more than a couple beats, I responded, "well, what a super idiot this guy is for listening to a girl!" I endured my dad laughing non-stop for another twenty minutes.

So you're probably reading this and wondering WHY in the world am I sharing this story with you. Well, there is a point. Information is usually only as good as the source of announcement so you totally want to make sure that your source is reliable and trustworthy. And that's one of the key reasons why millions of people around the world listen to a wide array of programming on HealthyLife.net. Whether its for mind-body-spirit information, entertainment, green matters and of course, sports, you can count on HealthyLife.net covering it all, straight.

AND, beginning January 4, 2010, you can count on "7", exclusively at HealthyLife.net!

In the meantime...WHO DAT BELIEVE & GEAUX SAINTS!
